Every day
- Wash your hands with soap and dry them with a clean towel before touching your lenses.
- Rub and rinse the lens with fresh solution, then store it in fresh solution. Never top up old solution.
- Rinse the case with solution, leave it open and upside down to air-dry.
- Put your lenses in before make-up and take them out before removing make-up.
Never
- Never use tap water, bottled water or saliva on lenses. Water carries germs that cause serious infection.
- Never swim or shower in your lenses.
- Never sleep in your lenses unless your optometrist prescribed lenses made for it.
- Never wear lenses longer than their replacement period (daily, monthly).
- Never share lenses, including coloured lenses.

Questions
Can I wear contact lenses every day?
Yes, for the hours your optometrist advises, usually up to 8 to 10 hours. Give your eyes a break with glasses in the evening.
Are coloured lenses safe?
Only when fitted by an optometrist and bought from a proper optical store. Coloured lenses from roadside shops or online without a fitting can damage the eye.
General information from the optometrists at LenzKare Optical & Eye Clinic, Arumbakkam, Chennai. It does not replace an eye examination. For sudden changes in vision, see an eye doctor the same day.
